Dale Abbey Residents Forum supported by Green Squeeze

Help us save one of Derbyshire’s most treasured landscapes from needless destruction

Did you know there are plans to build a 121 acre solar farm in the heart of historic Dale Abbey village? It would involve 75,000 3.5 metre panels over an area equivalent to 100 football fields. This is totally inappropriate in an area of such historical significance, tranquillity and outstanding natural beauty.

The development would be just 30 metres from the Dale Abbey Conservation Area, 70 meters from the Hermitage Scheduled Monument (the famous Hermit’s Cave) and only 220 metres from the 12th century All Saints Church. This is completely unacceptable.

The effect on local wildlife and the natural habitat that supports it would be devastating.

Planning laws state that developments like this can only take place in the green belt in ‘very special circumstances’, these circumstances have not been proven.

Residents and friends of Dale Abbey need your help to oppose these plans. The letter below can either be sent as is or be amended to add your own comments. When clicked the object button will automatically send your letter to the planning department at Erewash Borough Council. This will take you less than two minutes.

The action you take today will determine the future of Dale Abbey and the heritage of generations yet to be born.

Please give just 2 minutes of your time to save the beautiful Dale Abbey countryside.
